Write for us

We welcome pitches from writers who can make a public issue clearer without flattening its complexity. Send proposals through the Contact page, not as a finished article unless we have requested one.

What we are looking for

Pitch explainers about institutions, technology, ideas, culture or environmental questions in public life. Strong proposals have a focused question, a clear reader benefit and a subject that will remain useful beyond a single news cycle.

What makes a pitch work

Tell us the working angle, the central point you would help readers understand, the likely structure and why your approach is distinct. Flag any important limits, disagreements or source needs. Avoid sweeping claims, uncheckable anecdotes and topics that require readers to make professional decisions.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, then say that your message is a pitch. Include a brief introduction to your relevant experience if you wish, but no credentials are required. We cannot promise acceptance or a response time.
